Shelves of the day

To give shape to dreams. To give physicality and concreteness to the imagination. This is how Book comes about. It is an open shelving system, conceived above all to contain books. For the thousands of worlds and endless forms to which Book can give rise. The dream as mission. And its realisation. Do you dream of a wall tree to climb on, to gather your books like precious fruits? With Book you can do it.

“Aí a pessoa toma gosto, gasta 3 reais.

Libraries around the world
Curious Expeditions, an amazing blog that talks about “travelling and exhuming the extraordinary past”, made a fantastic selection of the most beautiful libraries around the world.
I was very happy that they’ve choosed the Real Gabinete Português de Leitura (Portuguese Royal Comittee of Literature, I think it’s the best translation) at Rio de Janeiro as the most beautiful in their selection. But all of them are really, really beautiful, I couldn’t choose one.

Andrey sent me too the winner project for the Czech National Library, that was made by Future Systems, and english architecture studio. Well, although the really difference between both (the Real Comittee and this new projetc) and altough the Czech project looks like a big mushroom, it seens like a good project, adapted to the place it’ll be construted and very green.
Read and see more pictures at Tree Hungers.

(thanks, Andrey!)
