Data visualization is a transversal discipline which harnesses the immense power of visual communication in order to explain, in an understandable manner, the relationships of meaning, cause and dependency which can be found among the great abstract masses of information generated by scientific and social processes. Born in the scientific field a couple of decades ago, the infovis, or datavis combines the strategies and techniques of statistics, graphic and interactive design, and computational analysis, in order to create a new model of communication, more adequate and revealing of the current age of complexity.

O caso é que comecei a navegar pelo site do Medialab Matadero Madrid e dei de cara com um conteúdo muito bacana, como os vídeos Thursdays at the Medialab / Jueves de Medialab, como “WEB 2.0 MODE: EGO(b)LOGIES. Subjectivity and resistance in the blogging phenomenon“. Ou seja, mesmo não indo até lá para participar desse evento maravilhoso, dá para sentir um gostinho com o material que eles disponibilizam por lá.

The mission stencil story, a hyperlink story on the streets:

“The mission stencil story is an interactive, choose-your-own-adventure story that takes place on the sidewalks of the Mission district in San Francisco. It is told in a new medium of storytelling that uses spraypainted stencils connected to each other by arrows. The streetscape is used as sort of an illustration to accompany each piece of text.”
