Background

UOL is a prominent Brazilian news company with an extensive portfolio of products and services. Working at the company, I had the opportunity to collaborate on a wide range of products such as:

• Music streaming platform (Radio UOL)
• Digital music store (UOL Megastore)
• Fantasy sports (Bolão and Campeonato Virtual)
• Community forum (Forum UOL)
• Media publishing platform (UOL Mais)
• Web hosting (UOL Host)
• Cloud services (UOL Host)
• Payments and card readers (PagSeguro)
• Tax-compliant system (Notanet)

I also collaborated on conceptual projects like a media player and a Smart TV player and internal tools, like a publisher for pools and surveys.

My role

Between June 2005 and December 2010, I worked as a UX designer at UOL. I was part of the Creation and Interface team, one of Brazil’s first UX design teams (although with a different name). The team was responsible for the UOL products’ experience and interface. I had the opportunity to execute activities and outputs like wireframes (a lot of!), user interviews, usability tests, market benchmarks, and focus groups, among other activities.

In 2007 UOL was the first Brazilian company to adopt Scrum as the development process, and I received the scrum master certification. With this change in process, I also worked as a Product Owner for about two years.

In January 2010, I took over the lead of the design team. As a leader, my role changed, and my tasks became more focused on guiding and assisting the team in their daily tasks.
